On Line Examination FAQs

Is on-line examining for all AMEB exams?

On-line examining will be available for written exams in theory, musicianship and music craft.

Will on-line exams be available for all grades?

On-line examining will begin with the earlier grades and will initially be available in Grades 1 and 2 in Musicianship and Theory and Preliminary to Grade 2 in Music Craft.

Will higher grades be available as well?

In time on-line examining will be expanded to include as many grades as possible.

When will on-line examining begin?

On-line examining will begin in 2010.

When will on-line examining be tested?

On-line examining will be tested in September and October 2009.

Can I be part of the testing?

The testing will cover a wide range of the AMEB community and participation will be by invitation. If you have a particular interest to be involved in the testing please contact your state office.

What if I don’t have a computer?

In the initial years of operation written exams will still be available in their traditional format.

Do I need a special computer?

The requirements to do an on-line exam are reasonably basic and most home computers would meet the minimum requirements.

What are the minimum computer requirements?

For PC’s

 

Pentuim 4 Processor or better.

Windows XP or better

Internet access.

One of the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 6 or higher, Firefox 2 or better, Google Chrome

The Adobe Shockwave 11 plugin (freely downloadable)

 

For MAC’s

 

G4 or better

Mac OS 10 or better

Internet Access.

One of the Following Web Browsers: Firefox, Safari

Do I need a broadband internet connection?

No. On-line examining will work best with a broadband internet connection but will also work with dial up. The initial download time will be longer with dial up but the exam is timed to start from when the candidate starts the exam – not when the exam starts downloading.

Can I enter on-line?

Yes the whole process from enrolment for the exam to receiving your result will be done on-line.

Will I still receive a certificate?

Yes. Successful candidates will still receive a certificate from the AMEB by post.
