The following awards are available. Details of the conditions of awards can be obtained from the State Office.
NEW SOUTH WALES
Distinction Certificates
Practical Examinations
A distinction certificate will be awarded to each candidate achieving A+ in all practical subjects. This will be released at the end of the year.
Theoretical Examinations
A distinction certificate will be awarded to each candidate obtaining the following marks or above in the grades listed:

AMEB Shields
There are nine annual shields awarded for Piano, Instrumental, Speech and Drama and Written examinations. They are:
1. Schools Category
A perpetual shield is awarded and can be retained by the winning school for the succeeding year. In addition, an individual shield will be awarded for retention by the school.
2. Private Teachers Category
For Speech subjects the following two shields are awarded:
• Preliminary to Fifth Grade.
• Sixth Grade to Licentiate.
VICTORIA
Margaret Leonard Speech and Drama Award ($300)

QUEENSLAND
Certificate of Distinction
Certificate of Distinction will be awarded to each candidate in:
(a) Speech and Drama and Speech in Action examinations Third Grade/Level 3 and above achieving an A+ result;
(b) Theory of Speech and Drama examinations achieving 90% and above;
(c) Diploma examinations, achieving a Distinction result.
With the exception of Diploma candidates, Certificates of Distinction will be released together with the Examination Report.
The Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland Awards
The Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland encourages students to continue their studies by making available special awards for outstanding performance.
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN & NORTHERN TERRITORY
Prizes for Theory and Practice of Music and Speech and Drama $1500
Candidates achieving the highest gradings in speech subjects will be awarded special prizes as decided by the Advisory Board.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA
The AMEB Awards in Western Australia
The AMEB Performance Awards are made under an annual awards scheme designed to encourage students to continue their studies in Music and Speech.
A number of special prizes are awarded annually. Contact State Office for details.
COUNTRY CENTRES AND LOCAL MANAGERS
Candidates should contact the State Office for details of the nearest Country Centre.

TASMANIA
AMEB qualifications which are recognised by the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority can contribute to the points needed by school students in Year 12 to gain the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE). For more information, contact the AMEB State Office in Tasmania on (03) 6226 7317.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA AND NORTHERN TERRITORY
AMEB qualifications are recognised by SACE and can be included in the 'community based learning' units required to complete SACE. Further information can be obtained from the AMEB State Office in South Australia on (08) 8303 8088.
